Hello Everybody!!
2008 was a successful year for us, having a steady increase of student numbers for our beginner’s lessons and growing club membership.
Our members have been very supportive whenever we had our seasonal Saturday night dances. Attendances have been excellent, proving to be a marvellous night out for all.
Our members not only are socializing and making new friends, they are forming social weekend outing groups, going to dances like RSA’s, as well as organizing BBQ’s and dinner parties at their individual homes.
Field trips
Some of us went to Waiheke Island for the 50’s “Happy Day’s” style Rock’n’Roll dance fundraiser. We organized a bus to take everyone to and from the venue, Great party weekend!
We will continue with our club nights every Tuesday evening. The beginner’s lessons start at 7.00 pm, followed by social dancing at 8.15 pm, finishing at 10.00 pm.
We have a great team of helpers, helping with the lessons. Some of them were once club students. . We are pleased with the growing attendance of students and club supporters making our club the place to be on a Tuesday night.
To those who wish to improve their skills, I have introduced one or two advanced moves after the beginner’s classes. This has been very popular.
At times some beginners felt, that they had "two left feet" and would not be able to learn how to dance. Many of them have become very good dancers. Now are craving to learn more moves and have been caught by the “dance bug”.
I would like to say thank you to everyone for their participation. It is also great to see some of our students and seasoned dancers joining the social dancing after the lessons and enjoy the music.
I would also like to say thank you to the Avondale Bowling Club for their continued support. We appreciate the facilities that the venue has to offer, such as; Secure parking, cash bar and comfortable surroundings.
